Thrift on Mill Staff would like to say THANK YOU !! to all of our 200 volunteers.
While we cannot celebrate National Volunteer Appreciation Week in person, we are still honouring and celebrating our incredible volunteers.
Did you know that our volunteer base began way back in 1982?! Formerly known as the Et Cetera Shoppe, our beloved Thrift on Mill began decades ago. Born from a desire to help in the name of Christ, our local MCC Thrift store was raised up from grassroots through local church congregations. After much renovation, 19 Erie Street North Leamington opened its doors in August 1982. Two representatives from local Mennonite Churches comprised its first board of directors. The very good work of turning donations into thrift treasures had begun! The Et Cetera Shoppe opened a second location ‘Furniture & More” in 2008. Then in February 2016 Thrift on Mill opened it’s doors right here on Mill St.
Since 1982 our volunteer base has grown to over 200 strong! We are so blessed to have volunteers that are still serving from the very beginning years. Many of our ‘golden years’ volunteers began their selfless service as a way to repay life saving help from Mennonite Central Committee when they were young or coming to Canada. Thrift on Mill today enjoys many gifts and talents from volunteers of all ages, cultural backgrounds and abilities. Our customers and donors often comment that they too appreciate the kindness and good work of our volunteers. We are truly blessed.
It has often been said that ‘It takes a village….’
We at Thrift on Mill could not do what we do without our FABULOUS volunteers!
Thank you one and all.
